The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC, North Carolina, or simply Carolina)^[13] is a public research university located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. First enrolling students in 1795, UNC claims to be the oldest public university in the United States^[14] and is one of the original eight schools known as a Public Ivy. Today, the university is the flagship of the consolidated University of North Carolina system.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of the participating schools for the Division I of NCAA. This is a public university, in fact, one of the best in the country. They have good academic programs for the undergraduate. They were also considered as a Public Ivy in 1985. They also have great postgraduate studies that people can avail and in fact, it is still one of the greatest curriculum's you will encounter. They are also one of the oldest universities in the United States as it was established in 1789.

This school is not all about academics. In fact, it is also one of the most notable schools for the Division I. It is one of those universities, who have won Championship Titles, mostly coming from the women team. They have 28 varsity teams but they are quite popular in the field of soccer and hockey. Their lacrosse team is doing well as well as their basketball team. However, winning these titles is not as easy as you think since this school has many rivals in the field of athletics. Most of their rivalries are also considered as one of the most intense rivalries in different sports publications.

This team was the roots of famous players Larry Brown (from Boston Celtics), Michael Jordan, Reyshawn Terry and many others. Although they are not the champions at all times, they have always been in the final four of the NCAA. They have produced many players to win individual awards.

3. Hockey- Their hockey team for women also contributed five titles from NCAA Championships. They must have the toughest women to play this sport and the 28 players, who were picked out for the All-American Selection evidence it. They won a lot of games under the coaching of Karen Shelton, who was also a former hockey player representing United States from 1977-1984.
